Mount Everest is the highest mountain on Earth located in High Asia on the border between Nepal and China. It measures 8,848 m ( 29,028 feet ) above the sea level.

The ancient Sanscrit name for the mountain is Devgiri which means 'Holy Mountain'. In Nepali the mountain is known as Sagarmatha, meaning 'Head of the Sky' and the Tibetan name of the mountain is Chomolunguma, meaning 'Mother of the Universe'. The unique beauty and dignity of the mountain tempts hundreds of climbers, however only a few reach the summit to enjoy its incredible view. When you are above 26,246 feet ( 8,000 m ) you must use oxygen masks and special protecting uniforms. The temperature is extremely low, there is only about a third as much oxygen available as at the sea level  and the high winds are perilous to those climbing the steep slopes. It takes about two months to reach the summit, not including the preparation and acclimatization period which can take from two to three years. Those who reach the summit, speak about the graceful and gentle mountain and the everlasting, profound impact of that place on their lives.
